Non-wood forest products with therapeutic potential from the Republic of Moldova

The forestry fund of the Republic of Moldova is appreciated for the potential and quality of medicinalplants, used as a raw material for maintaining and regaining the state of health. The area of the forest fund is distributed under various environmental conditions with a diverse taxonomic and therapeutic flora. The aim of the research is to evaluate the taxonomic diversity of the vascular medicinal plants on the territory of the forestry fund of the Republic of Moldova. The objectives of the study were to inventory and to know the therapeutic potential of the forest flora. Research conducted personally and correlated with data published by other authors highlights a list of 434 species, belonging to 286 genera and 89 families. This represents 38 % of the total vascular plants found on the lands covered with forest vegetation in the Republic of Moldova.
