Using the NIRF200 near-infrared spectrophotometer developed independently by FANTEC for determination of the transmittance spectra of fruits, we conducted tests on non-destructive methods of measuring watermelon. We conducted multiple regression analysis based on the data obtained from the test and the sager content of fruit. Two types of processing were carried out on the spectral data, division by an optional wavelength, and 2nd derivative.Multiple regression analysis was the carried out on the results of each processing. 11lc results of division by an optional wavelengthwere as fallows me multiple correlation(1'v1R.) was 0.83 andthe standard error of calibration was 0.45 . With second derivative method , me multiple correlation was 0.85 and me standard error of calibration was 0040. Through these tests, we were able to confirm that the NIRF-200 allows use of the NIR method of measurement with large sized fruits such as watermelon, in which it has conventionally been difficult to obtain accurate measurement of internal determination because of me size of the fruit and the thickness of the peel or rind.
