The effect of drought treatment on xylem sap pH of Capsicum annuum L. Bellboy pepper was determined over 10 days of withholding water from plants. There was strong correlation between soil moisture content and xylem sap pH of droughted plants. Sap pH increased with increasing the intensity of water deficit and the differences were statistically significant as compared to those of well watered plants. Xylem sap of droughted plants was highest and well associated with lower transpiration rate.
