Groundnut seeds, although classified as orthodox seeds i.e. seeds that can be desiccated to low moisture and stored at low temperature, are prone to deterioration in storage due to its oily nature. As such it is important to be able to store the seeds appropriately for the required period. This experiment looked at the effect of moisture and temperature on the storability of groundnut seeds. The data obtained were used to predict the storage life of groundnut seeds under various conditions. Groundnut seeds were harvested at maturity and subjected to desiccation prior to storage at various temperatures for a specified duration. Multiple regression analysis was used to study the relationship and to obtain relative storability. The results showed that groundnut seeds have relatively low storability with, combination of low moisture and low temperature giving the best results Le. germination dropped to 50% after 3 months
