After the senescence of above ground, the rhizome of Curcuma cordata undergoes a period dormancy. The use of various concentration of plant growth regulators (PGR) were suspected to break dormancy are examined. Rhizome segments were soaked in diffirent PGR namely IBA at 0,50,100,150,200,250 mgL-1GA3 at 0,100,200,300,400,500, mgL-1BAP at 0,40,80,120,160,200 mgL-1 and Ethephon at 0,50,100,150,200,250 mgL-1) for 6 hours then cultured on cotton medium. The results showed that IBA, GA3, BAP and Ethephon had significant effect on breaking dormancy. Ethephin application produced the highest number of bud emergence and number of roots was increased by application of IBA at 250mgL-1.
