In recent years, there has been an increase in the interest in the cultivation of corn for grain in Primorsky Krai. Whencultivating crops, agricultural enterprises faced the problem of increasing the harmfulness of the corn moth species Ostriniafurnacalis Gn. The corn moth is the most dangerous omnivorous corn pest. By the beginning of corn harvesting, the damage toplants caused by the corn moth reaches 60-96%. One of the ways to combat the corn moth is the use of biological and chemicalmeans of protection. Spraying special substances during the hatching of caterpillars contributes to a significant reduction in thenumber of pests and damage to crops. The task of the research was to test these substances in pest control on corn involving thefollowing types: Fitoverm, emulsifiable concentrate; Ampligo, microencapsulated dispersion; Detsis Expert, emulsifiableconcentrate. After treatment, the damage to the plants by the pest was determined. The results demonstrate a selection of moreeffective substances. Their biological efficiency: Ampligo (0.3 l/ha) 84.2%; Fitoverm (0.14 l/ha) 67.3%; Decis Expert (0.2 l/ha)76.5%. The influence of weather and climatic conditions on the damage of maize plants by the pest is also noted. It was foundthat the abundance of precipitation and high air temperatures contribute to an increase in the harmfulness of the phytophage. Thearticle recommends substances used depending on the purpose of the appointment and the place of cultivation of the crop. Thebioinsecticide Fitoverm is allowed for the treatment of corn crops in ecologically significant areas. The chemical preparationAmpligo is advisable to use on a production scale with a high pest population. The use of Ampligo also demonstrated an increasein grain yield from 0.52 to 1.51 t/ha
