Digestive Tract Helminths Viewed in Dogs According To Fecal Examination. The University of Yüzüncü Yıl, Institute of Medical Sciences, Postgraduate Thesis, Van, 2014. By this way it is aimed to determine the spread of the digestive tract helminths according to fecal examination. In this study made between 10.07.2013-12.08.2013 fecal samples that taken from owned and stray dogs randomly are examined macroscopically at first. And than it is examined by using of these fecal examination methods: Nativ-Lugol, Flotation and Sedimentation. In research, from 53 owned dogs, 22 (%41.5), from 39 stray dogs (%75), at total 61 (%58.1) from 105 dogs parasites are found. The infection rate of male (%57.9) and female (%58.3) are found close. At the same time, the rate of 0-3 aged dogs (%85.2) are higher than 4-7 aged dogs (%50.8) and 8-13 aged dogs (%40). 33 (%31.4) from these patient Toxocara canis, from 28 (%26.7) Toxascaris leoanina, from 17 (%16.2) Taenia spp., from 8 (%7.6) Capillaria spp., from 8 (%7.6) Dipylidium caninum, from 6 (%5.7) Spirocerca lupi, from 5 (%4.8) Ancylostoma canium, from 4 (%3.8) Uncinaria stenocephala and from 3 (%2.8) Trichuris spp. (9 different type of helminths) are detected. In study, among dog greeds, Kangal (%65.9), Labrador (%46.7), German shepherd dog (%61.5), watchdog (%50) and four different dogs greed were examined, but no significant difference were found among them. At the same time, depending on nutrition, parasitism status was examined too. And the rate of dogs that feed on raw food (%75) are found higher than the dogs that feed on cooked and dog food (%41.5). Consequently in this study that taken place in Siirt at the first time, high rate of Helminths were found in both owned and stray dogs. These helminths can spread to people too. So serious measures must be taken.
