The objective of the Ganges Strategic BasinAssessment (Ganges SBA) is to build knowledgeand promote an open, evidence-based dialogue onthe shared opportunities and risks of cooperativemanagement in the basin. It is hoped that this willlead to greater cooperation in the management ofthis shared river system, beginning with a shift frominformation secrecy to information sharing. The keyfeature of this regional research is the developmentof a set of nested hydrological and economic basinmodels, along with targeted analyses on socialvulnerability and climate change. The mosaicof information produced using these tools andapproaches can be used to examine alternativescenarios across a range of possible Ganges futures.
