Brucella melitensis is the most pathogenic species infecting human and may cause abortions in goats, sheep and cows. This disease is called brucellosis, affecting various domestic and wild life species, resulting from an infection of bacteria that belong to the genus Brucella. Among the bacterial components, the outer membrane proteins (OMPs) are particularly attractive for the development of vaccine or diadnostic kits. In this study, the OMPs profiles of local isolates of B. melitensis were determined using Sodium Oodecyl Sulfate-Polyacrylamide Gel Electrophoresis (SDS-PAGE). This study also aimed at determining of the antigenicity of B. melitensis OMPs using Western immunoblotting method. Four major OMPs were successfully evaluated from the local B. melitensis isolates and results showed that 94 kDa major OMPs of B. melitensis were strongly antigenic to the antisera against B. melitensis produced in rabbit.
