Hroudova, Marcela | Pulkrabek, Josef | Dvorak, Petr et al.
The paper presents a diploma thesis devoted to two smaller farms, where sugar beet is a permanent part of the crop rotation - it is grown at about 25% and 10% of arable land. The paper assesses the benefits of sugar beet cultivating for these two farms, the level and success rate of its cultivation. It compares the cultivating conditions and deals with the possibilities of improvement of agrotechnical procedures. Last but not least, it has collected economic data, calculated the profitability rate of cultivation, and suggested possibilities for improvement. The paper summarizes the positives and negatives of the cultivation method and suggests the possibility of increasing the efficiency of this crop cultivation on the monitored farms. Sugar beet is an indispensable market crop for farms, at the optimum yields and prices of supplied beets and the subsidies for its cultivation; it is a profitable component of crop production. In 2015-2017, the rate of profitability increased, as the technology was constantly being improved, and the experience of both growers grew as well. The profit from sugar beet cultivation contributes positively to the overall economic performance of both farms.
