The key problems of using genetics and genomic data for accelerated animal breeding using qualitative and quantitative traits are considered; the importance of regulatory networks for the control of the latter is discussed. The data on the origin of the domestic rabbit are presented, its uniqueness as a model for biological research and development of control methods for the purpose of directed management of the diversity of farm animal species is substantiated. The features of the genome organization of the domestic rabbit, the saturation of its genome with mobile genetic elements and related components of regulatory networks are discussed. The accumulated data on specific candidate genes for the control of economically valuable traits, distribution and variability of regulatory factors associated with non-coding RNAs make it possible to increase the preciseness control of genetic structures in animals and to accelerate the selection process. Currently, the genome of the domestic rabbit has been fully sequenced, its genomic sequences have been annotated, key genes for a small number of phenotypic characteristics have been identified, and the complexity of the organization of the transcriptome of the domestic rabbit has been described. It all provides us more possibilities to use marker-assisted selection and genome selection methods.

Рассматриваются ключевые проблемы использования генетических и геномных данных для ускоренной селекции с использованием качественных и количественных признаков; для контроля последних обсуждается важность регуляторных сетей. Представлены данные о происхождении домашнего кролика, обосновывается его уникальность в качестве модели для биологических исследований и разработок методов контроля в целях направленного управления разнообразием животных с.-х. видов. Обсуждаются особенности геномной организации домашнего кролика, насыщенность его генома мобильными генетическими элементами и связанными с ними компонентами регуляторных сетей. Накопленные данные о конкретных генах - кандидатах контроля хозяйственно ценных признаков, распределении и изменчивости регуляторных факторов, связанных с некодирующими РНК, позволяют увеличивать точность контроля индивидуальных генетических структур животных и способствовать ускорению селекционного процесса. В настоящее время геном домашнего кролика полностью секвенирован, аннотированы его геномные последовательности, выявлены ключевые гены для небольшого количества фенотипических характеристик, описана сложность организации транскриптома домашнего кролика. Все это открывает новые возможности использования методов маркер-вспомогательной и геномной селекции.
