The Effect of Different Cross Sowing Methods and Leonardite Sourced Liquid Organic Manure Applications on Weed Growth in Red Lentil Plant

One of the most important factors in the cultivation of red lentil plants is weed control. If there is no effective weeds control, very much yield losses are experienced. This study was carried out to determine the effect of different cross sowing methods and leonardite sourced liquid organic manure applications on weed growth and yield in red lentil plants. The study was carried out in 2018-2019 and 2019-2020 seasons production, in Diyarbakır conditions, based on rainfall and in a factorial trial design. Studies were replicated in the same field for two years. As a result of the data obtained in the second year of the study, the number of weeds per square meter of 45º and 90º cross sowing methods was found to be lower than that of line sowing. In 90º cross sowing, it was observed that the dry weight of weed per square meter was lower. While it was observed that different liquid manure applications had no effect on the number of weeds per square meter, it was observed that the dry weight of weed was the least at the dose of 15 L da-1 liquid organic manure. All doses of liquid organic manures increased the yield, and the highest yield was obtained from 10 L da-1 liquid organic manure application. As a result of this study, it has been found that it is advisable to use liquid organic manures in order to increase yield. It has been determined that the 90º cross sowing is applicable in terms of weed control.
