Determination of the Fattening Performance, Slaughter and Carcass Characteristic in Saanen and Alpin Kids

This study aims to determination of fattening performance, carcass characteristic in Saanen and Alpinkids. Kids were borned in Çine Vocational School Research and Practice Unit and they were weaned ataverage 5 month age. Total 16 kids (8 Alpin, 8 Saanen) were used for animal material. The average startinglive weight of fattening, average finishing live weight, average daily weigh gain and average daily feedintake of Saanen kids are 17.26 kg, 22.61 kg, 96 g and 741 g, respectively. The same properties of Alpin kidsare 24.55 kg, 29.54 kg, 89 g and 963 g, respectively. The slaughter weight, hot carcass weight, dressingpercentage, cooling loss, ratio of leg, back-waist, arm, skirt and carcass compactness values of Saanan kidsare 22.22 kg, 10.69 kg, 46.45%, 2.49%, 29.52%, 27.06%, 23.31%, 8.62% and 17.80, respectively. The sameproperties of Alpin kids are 29.51 kg, 15.12 kg, 49.57%, 3.07%. 28.78%, 29.90%, 21.43%, 8.24% and 23.51,respectively.
