Time of planting and N rate of peanut intercropped with sugarcane [study conducted in the Philippines]
1982
Bombio, I.S.
A factorial experiment was conducted to determine the: a) best time of planting peanut relative to the time of planting sugarcane, b) feasibility of intercropping peanut With a fast-growing sugarcane variety, and c) nitrogen requirement of peanut as intercropped with sugarcane. Planting of peanut two weeks after sugarcane resulted in taller peanut plants but reduced yield by 46%. Peanut yield in Phil 56226 and Phil 6607 plots were statistically similar. N rate did not affect growth and yield of peanut. Time of planting and N rate of peanut intercrop have no effect on sugarcane yield. Phil 6607 is taller and has more tonnage, but of lower PS/TC than Phil 56226.
