Performance of corn (Zea mays L.) Philippine prolific DMR composite no. 2 at different nitrogen levels and plant population densities [study conducted in the Philippines]
1982
Pengphol, S.
The field experiment was conducted at the Central Experiment Station of UPLB from October 1981 to January 1982 to observe the performance of prolific corn (Philippine Prolific DMR Composite no. 2) as affected by nitrogen fertilization and plant density. The results showed that increasing in plant population density from 33,000 to 95,000 plants per hectare increased plant height, ear height, and leaf area index (LAI) but decreased stem diameter, leaf area per plant, stover dry weight per plant, harvest index, prolificacy expression, ear diameter and ear length. Increasing nitrogen application from 90 to 180 kg/ha also increased ear height, leaf area per plant, leaf area index (LAI), stover dry weight per plant, ear diameter, and ear length
