Milled wood lignins were prepared from sawdust of red lauan (Shorea negrosensis Foxw.). The conditions of preparation varied with respect to the pre-extraction solvent and milling time. The lignins differed in yield. Characterization of the red lauan lignins by IR spectroscopy indicated that the properties exhibited are typical of lignins of tropical hardwood species
