Analysis of growth in soybean

Dry matter weight and leaf area were measured for three soybean cultivars (early, intermediate and late cycles) in order to make growth analyses. The time variation of dry weight and leaf area were conveniently described by exponential equations of the second degree. The maximum estimated dry matter weight were 750, 950 and 1400 g/m2 for the cultivars Parana, Santa Rosa and UFV-1, whereas the maximum leaf area index were 6.5; 6.8 and 7.3 and the maximum crop growth ratio values were 17, 18 and 23 g/m2/dia for Parana, Santa Rosa and UFV-1. The harvesting index varied between 0.4 and 0.5 for the three cultivars
