The influence of cyprofuram, metalaxyl and aluminiumfosetyl on the respiration of mycelia of Phytophthora cactorum and the sporangia of Plasmopara viticola

The 200-fold ED50 concentration of cyprofuram (mycelial growth) reduced the mycelial respiration of P. cactorum by 50 per cent while a 14000-fold ED50 concentration of metalaxyl did not significantly influence mycelial respiration. At 200 mug/ml, aluminiumfosetyl completely inhibited mycelial respiration in a shorter time interval with sub-lethal concentrations of aluminiumfosetyl. The reduction of mycelial growth was directly correlated with the reduction in mycelial respiration. A reduction in sporangial respiration of P. viticola could only be demonstrated under the influence of aluminiumfosetyl. A reduction of 86 per cent was recorded after 6 h incubation. This effect was not observed with either cyprofuram or metalaxyl when used at normal field rates
