Hoque, M.S.
The available S in 15 soil samples collected for the pot experiments varied considerably with the variation of sampling locations and extracting reagents. The highest content of available S was recorded in Boyra soil (Tangail), using all the extractants except MCP+HOAc. Available S in all the 15 samples extracted with NaOAc+HOAc, NaOAc and NaHCO were higher than the critical level, while only a few samples extracted with other reagents gave lower S values. There was no appreciable effect of S application on dry matter yield of BR3 rice at 73 or 50 kg/ha tended to increase S content in plants. The grain yields in 3 out of 4 field trials were highest0864with 25 kg S/ha application and in the other trial highest grain yield was recorded with 50 kg S/ha applicati
