Horizontal cooperation of agricultural education in primary and secondary schools for rural development

The purpose of this study was to investigate the present status on agricultural education and the horizontal cooperation among the agricultural education in primary and secondary schools, and other agencies such as agricultural extension services, agricultural administrative offices, etc., and explore the ways on improving and strengthening the cooperation. General agricultural education has been carried out through the subject of practical art in primary schools, and agriculture in the middle schools. Vocational agricultural education has been conducted in agricultural high schools and in comprehensive high schools. About 20 % of practical art text book in primary school was allocated to content related to the agriculture. In 1986, Agriculture subjects were taught in 1222 middle schools and about sixty thousand students were enrolled in the departments related to agriculture in high schools
