Feeding value of locally produced barley for swine, 1; effect of the substitution of locally produced barley for imported corn in growing finishing swine at same energy level

This experiment was conducted to determine the substitution level of locally produced barley for corn (imported from U.S.A.). The levels of substitution were 0, 20, 40, 60, 80 or 100 % and the levels of digestible energy in the ration were equalized in all treatments by the addition of tallow, 108 heads of 3 way crossbred (D.LWL) weighing 30kg were used. The DE contents of tested barley and corn were 3,1250097, 3.404 Kcal/kg, respectively. As the substitution level increased the average daily gain decreased.
