Potential of fermented ammoniated whey (FAW) for inducing voluntary intake of rice straw in weaned goats [Philippines]

Fermented ammoniated whey (FAW) supplemented rice straw, molasses supplemented rice straw, whey supplemented rice straw and rice straw only were fed to 16 weaned native goats to determine the effect of FAW supplementation on the goats rice straw intake. Results showed increased intake of rice straw after 4 hours ad libitum feeding when supplemented with either FAW or molasses. Feeding with whey supplemented rice straw resulted to a minimal increase in dry matter (DM) intake of rice straw, similar to feeding with rice straw only.
