Tuan, P.P.
Among the different insect pests associated with corn, corn borer (Ostrinia furnacalis Guenee), corn silk beetle (Monolepta bitasciata), and corn earworm (Helicoverpa armigera armigera Hubner) were the key pests infesting corn in this study. The use of carbofuran 3G was the most effective way of control corn pests. Among the three methods of application, whorl application 25 DAE was most effective. Economically, the cultivation of corn in pure stand (monoculture) without the application of carbofuran 3G usually resulted in net loss. With carbofuran 3G application (soil or whorl) and legume intercropping particularly peanut gave higher percentage of n1199et return ranging from 5.96 to 105.94%. Intercropping corn with peanut and whorl application were most compatible and superior both in corn borer control and green corn production compared to other treatme
