The chemical and physical properties of lowland paddy soils in Malig, Isabela [Philippines] were analyzed and evaluated for its fertility status. The soil pH was moderately acidic. Organic matter content was from low to medium levels but phosphorus and potassium were very deficient. Calcium and magnesium were relatively high in most of the soils studied. Mechanical analysis revealed the dominance of clay particles in the soil samples studied. Bulk density values were mainly affected by intensive cultivation practices. Particle density values were low
