Effect of serological examinations on the detectability of bacterial agents of abortions in cattle

Using complement fixation and agglutination tests antibodies against Chlamydia psittaci, Toxoplasma gondi, Haemophilus somnus, Brucella abortus and Listeria monocytogenes were determined in sera of aborting cows, which were negative in bacteriological examination. Serological tests allowed to detect more animals infected with C. psittaci and H. somnus than bacteriological examination.
