Influence of the "Adamow" power plant on the natural environment (phytoindicator studies)

shThe "Adamow" power plant, 600 W of power, is located in a weakly industrialized terrain and in practice it is the only significant source of pollution within the radius of approx. 25 km. It enables determination of influence of this object on the natural environment of the neighbourhood and making more general conclusions on influence of other similar effects. Due to emission chemical properties of soil have changed. Formerly the soil was not intoxicated. The surface layer of soil became alcalized and concentrations of Ca, Mg, Na, Al and other elements increased. Pollution of atmosphere, mainly SO2, reduced crops of plants, often by tens percents, what was demonstrated by growing horse bean, barley and white mustard under similar soil conditions. Amounts of sulphur accumulated in transplanted moss, lichen and pine leaves showed that concentration of SO2 in atmosphere exceeded that theoretically calcul
