德语. The nomenclatur of hog lice infesting domestic pigs (Sus scrofa domestica) and the wild boar of Europe (Sus scrofa) is confusing. By comparative morphological studies of 66 specimens of lice from the domesticated host and 105 specimens from the wild host could be demonstrated that the lenght of the heads and the width of the sternal plates are of different size in both sexes of adult lice of the two hosts. The type and the location of the fixation of the nits differ in the two lice according to the other hair coat. Biological studies on the host preference or specificity are going on
