The paper presents a rapid method for testing the resistance of lettuce cultivars to Botrytis cinerea and Sclerotinia sclerotiorum. Laibacher Eis, Imperial GL-1, Ey-0734 and Deci Minor lettuce cultivars are tolerant to Botrytis cinerea. Noran and Bamor lettuce cultivars are immune to Sclerotinia sclerotiorum, Crimor INTA, Deci Minor, Divalo and Verpia cultivars are resistant, while Laura, Laibacher Eis Reskia, Ey-0734, Imperial GL-659, Ramses, Nabucco, Chou de Naples, Arges 431, Grazer Krauthauptel, Batavia Bionda, Cristallo, L 46/85 Cora cultivars are tolerant to this pathogen. The immune and resistant cultivars can be used in breeding as genitors for resistance to these pathogens
