Irrigation and water resources potential for Africa

FAP has prepared a 1:10 Million scale map of water and irrigation potential for Africa. This will be accompanied by tables of potential and irrigable land for each of the major river watersheds defined in the study. The work is based on digitized cartographic data using a geographic information system (GIS)/ software. The methodology used is basically the water balance approach, which depends on the validity of the rainfall data.
