A class of new experimental design in rows and columns, suitable for sugar beet variety trials, for example, is recommended. The designs are easily obtained for (almost) any number of treatments and replicates, can be made resolvable into complete replicates in the direction of, say, harvesting and have high precision for comparing treatments. Examples of specific designs are given and their efficiency compared with that of other, earlier used and recommended designs.
