Predatory mites have proven to be sensitive indicators of pesticides especially. A laboratory test method is described for testing the effects of pesticides on oligophagous predatory mite Amblyseius barkeri (Hughes). The test programme includes several steps: adult test, larva or nymph test, egg test, testing of feeding capacity and of fertility. This step method leads to comprehensive statements about the population and its capacity parameters. The test programme starts with a quicktest with females of the predatory mite. If efficacy is over 50 per cent, a further laborious testing on juvenile stages is not necessary. In this case it is continued with the testing of duration effect
