Impact of male on the longevity, fecundity and oviposition frequency, developmental period and the sex ratio on the offspring of Diaeretiella rapae (M'Intosh) (Hymenoptera, Aphididae), a parasitoid of Lipaphis erysimi Kalt. (Homoptera, Aphididae)

The present paper elucidates the impact of male on the longevity, fecundity and oviposition frequency, developmental period and the sex ratio of the offspring of Diaeretiella rapae. The longevity of the female parasitoid was slightly higher than seven days. The average fecundity was 246 as emergents. The developmental period of the parasitoid was 14 days. The period from oviposition to mummification was significantly higher than from mummification to emergence. The sex ratio was female biased and the proportion of female offspring was maximum on the first day followed by a decrease in the subsequent days. Male parasitoid interfere with the females and significantly reduces the life processes and effects somehow the physiology of the reproductive system of the female
