The extraction of stevia leaves through pressing and soaking in ethanol. I. The effect of size of ground leaves and its extraction pattern

Solid-liquid extraction is the only method to obtain stevia sweetener from stevia leaves. This process is very time consuming. To save time and energy needed in the extraction while increasing its yield, this experiment to produce stevia sweetener has been carried out through pressing of the leaves after previously soaking in ethanol. Size reduction of the leaves facilitated the yield of the sweetener. To obtain a yield of extraction of more than ninety percent sweetener, the size of ground leaves should be 32 mesh, and pressing of the soaked leaves must be done seven time consecutively.
