Valuation prices for wood in New Zealand exotic forests

This report describes a programme of investigation into the past present and future influences on wood prices in New Zealand. It sets an approach to pricing wood for forest valuation then investigates the factors determining free market prices for wood now and into the future. The modelling process for forest production estimates is based on pricing at the stumpage level so whereas it would be more relevant to estimate prices at f.o.b. or wharfgate, this report determines price at the stumpage pricing point. The report outlines the approach to be taken, investigates the domestic market prices for wood and wood products, and the export market prices for wood and wood products and comes to conclusions as to the stumpage prices appropriate to valuing the New Zealand exotic forests
