1988 annual forestry sector review
1989
The output of most forest products in 1988 was higher than for the previous year. Exports increased by 23% to over 1 billion dollars. The sector's share of total New Zealand merchandise exports was 8.4% compared with 7.6% in 1987. Together the market for pulp and newsprint accounted for 46% of the total value of all forest products export. The forestry sector was the third best performing sector in 1988 being exceeded only by energy and chemicals
