The effect of nitrification inhibitors on the growth and accumulation of nitrates in spinach

The effect of nitrate fertilizers and the inhibitors Didin and N-Serve nitrification on yields, the utilization of nitrogen of fertilizers and the accumulation of nitrates in plant tissues were followed in pot, micro-plot and exact field trials. The results proved that the choice of fertilizer rates requires a high level of responsibility. While after top dress fertilization by granulated ammonium nitrate with limestone (LAV) the yield increased on an average by 20.1 per cent in field trial, the nitrate content rose by 287 per cent. The effect of verified inhibitors on spinach yield was moderately positive. Their application with nitrate fertilizers caused decrease of nitrates in spinach leaves by 37-70 per cent of their content proved in the variants not treated by inhibitors.
