The effects of synthetic beta-carotene supplementation on semen quality in breeding bulls

In group trials with breeding bulls, the effect of peroral application of 200 mg synthetic beta-carotene Rovimik, product of Messrs. Hoffmann La Roche, was tested for the sperm quality. The differences between single parameters were not statistically significant. In the experimental group of bulls fed on bulk feeds with a low content of beta-carotene, a higher percentage of living spermatozoa and higher activity after thermic tests of native sperm were determined when compared with the control.
