Growth of the leaf tissues from hop stunt viroid (HSVd)-infected and uninfected hop plants was compared in vitro under different auxin/cytokitin levels. The responses observed when the medium was supplemented with higher levels of auxins in combination with cytokinis suggest to indicate that increment of indoleacetic acid (IAA) requirement to support the active growth of infected leaf tissues would be reflected by the decreased content of endogenous IAA. Indole is also utilized like IAA. As the result of HSVd infection, a marked decrease in the rooting was observed. Based on these results, hormonal effects occurring in the viroid-infected cells are discussed
