Two groups of 16 cows each got isoenergetic and isonitrogenous rations consisting of a grass/maize silage mixture and concentrates without (control) or with 8 % calcium soaps of palmoil fatty acids (experimental). Milk yield, milk fat content and milk protein content in the control resp. experimental group amounted to 30 kg, 3,74 % and 3,08 % resp. 32,3 kg, 3,8 % and 2,76 %. The use of soaps increased the portion of long chain fatty acids (especially oleic acid) in milk fat.
