Novel 2-(4-(2'-flouro-4'-cyanophenoxy)phenoxy)-alkanoic acids and agriculturally acceptable derivatives thereof are selective postemergent herbicides for the control of grassy weeds in valuable crops. The novel herbicides are surprisingly selective, i.e., exhibit little or no phytotoxic effects, to wheat, barley, and especially rice at concentrations that control undesired weed grasses.
