This study has been carried out in order to determine the antibiotic resistant genes which are linked to the endotoxin genes, i.e., in the same plasmids. This will greatly facilitate the enrichment of such plasmids and increasing Bacillus thuringiensis potency and activity and obtaining stable bacterial strains having chromosomal endotoxin genes. Kanamycin, streptomycin and erythrocin-resistant strains were obtained. Results showed that kanamycin resistant, HD-134, HD-234, and HD-341 strains were the most potent against the second larval instar of Spodoptera littoralis indicating that kanamycin resistant gene or genes are located in the endotoxin plasmids. However, Col W(3) and Col W(4) isolated from some coleopterous larvae (erythrocin resistant strains) proved to be the most efficient strains in controlling S. littoralis indicating that erythrocin resistant gene or genes are located in the endotoxin plasmids of these strains
