The Institut de Recherche Agronomique et Zootechnique (IRAZ) hosts the bean germplasm collected in the 3 countries forming the Economic Community of the Great Lakes Countries (Burundi, Rwanda, and Zaire). This Institute is responsible for studying the germplasm and diffusing its features. Within this context, the characterization and evaluation of this regional patrimony is a must since researchers need to make use of well documented plant material. Catalogues where as many characters as possible since they are needed as an important tool for plant breeders
