Amino-acids in microstrobiles and pollen of silver fir (Abies alba)

Dynamics of amino acids in microstrobiles of silver fir during their postdormant development was studied. Statistically significant differences were proved in the content of prevailing amino acids analysed, that correlated with the developmental stage of microstrobiles. The total content of the investigated amino acids varied significantly in the interval from dormancy to ripe pollen grains. The factor of the individual plant (the color of microstrobile) showed less significant change than the factor of the development stage. In the samples of pollen, the same qualitative spectrum of amino acids was proved as in microstrobiles. The loss of the fertility of pollen was represented above all by a significant decline of the content of proline.
