A Beauveria bassiana epizooty in Stereonychus fraxini adult population was observed in Longoza Forest, Bulgaria, in 1988. The level of infection amounted to 58.3%. The new isolated local strain was tested against new-emerged adults and overwintered ones. The latter were more susceptible to the fungus (LT50 values were 9.2 and 5.1 respectively). A host-density dependence and climatic factors in relation to the observed epizooty are discussed
