Growth rate of the different leaflet mungbean varieties which have labated trifoliate leaves (V 2773 S), 9-leaflet leaves (V 5926) and normal trifoliale leaves (UT-1) was studied at Chai Nat Field Crop Research Center between 12 Feb.-28 April 1986 (dry season) 1. All varieties had first flowering and first rib of differences but they had the same growth characteristic. UT-1 had more dry matter accumulation of parts, than other varieties (at P = 0.05) almost at all growth stages. 2. all varieties had very high Crop Growth Rate (CGR. mg/day/plant) before flowering, pod ripening but after that CGR. 3. Leaf Area Index (LAI.) rapidly increased before flowering, highest at 56 day planting and then decreased (except V 59260). Percentage of leaves dry matter per total dry matter of UT-1 V2773 S V 5926 4. LAI. and Total DM. had highly significant correlation coefficient and LAI. had highly effected on total DM. 5. All varieties had rapidly increased plant height and number of node between 35 - 49 DAP. 6. UT-1 and V 2773 S which had trifoliate leaves gave more yield than V 5926 which had 9 leaflet leaves
