Structural modifications of the herbicide Glyphosate (Roundup) at different pHs as revealed by infrared spectroscopy

英语. An infrared spectroscopy study was carried out on the herbicide Glyphosate (Round up) at increasing pHs. The IR bands followed the dissociation of the Glyphosate acidic groups at the different pHs. In particular the IR bands at about 1190 cm-1 and 1090 cm-1 were attributed to the P-OH and P-O groups of the phosphono radical, respectively. This attribution had not been clearly indicated so far in the literature. An increasing widening of the bands was related to the enhanced number of possible intermolecular hydrogen bonds when Glyphosate was increasingly dissociated at higher pHs

L'esame delle bande infrarosse ha messo in evidenza la relazione con le varie forme di Glyphosate ai vari pH. In particolare sono state attribuite le bande intorno a 1190 e 1090 cm-1 ai gruppi P-OH e P-O del radicale fosfono. L'attribuzione di queste bande non era stata sufficientemente chiarita finora. Sono stati evidenziati degli allargamenti delle bande all'aumentare del numero dei possibili legami di idrogeno in funzione della dissociazione dei gruppi acidi di Glyphosate
