The a.i. Dicamba has been discovered by the U.S. company VELSICOL in 1958. In Germany it is registered as BANVEL 4 S with 0.75 l/ha against annual and perennial dicots in corn and in combination with MCPA in cereals and pasture. In results of recently finalized lysimeter study, not exceeding the threshold level of 0.01 ppb, an annulation of the water-restriction is expected. The history of registration as well as the positioning established BANVEL 4 S as an speciality herbicide against field bindweed (Convolvulus arvensis) and hedge bindweed (Calystegia sepium). Presented results indicate an excellent activity of Dicamba on most of the present species in corn and offer possibilities to control as well broadleaf weeds. For use against grasses and dicots tank mixtures with CATO (Rimsulfuron) and its surfactant are recommended
