Which are the attractions of the gene expression?

Gene expression (g.e.) is a function of the gene-environment interaction. The scientific appeal of the g.e. Lays within the giant dimensions of the issue and within the fact, that only an expressed gene proves his biological mission. On example of a study of the Arginin-vasotocin (AVT) g.e. in chicken, with an AVT specific cDNA probe, a trifling segment of one option of the future development of the animal sciences is given. The brains of the control- and osmotically stimulated chickens/embryos (E15, E18, D1, D40, adult) of both sexes were studied by means of in situ hybridisation. The osmotic challenge has stimulated the AVT g.e. in all stages studied: in embryos and young animals by expression in additional neuronal subpopulations, in adults by increased expression levels within the constitutively expressing neurons. The osmotic stimulation had the most obvious effect on the neurons of the paraventricular nucleus (PVN). A sexually dimorphe expression of the AVT gene was observed in subnuclei of the lateral parvocellular neurons of the PVN only in males
