The variability of bioelectrical trees' potential as a possible indicator of the influence of endogenous and exogenous growth factors in beech forest stands

The variability of the bioelectrical potential of trees in even-aged beech stands within trees and stands (by social classes and developmental phases) and in micro-site has been researched. The influences of endogenous (natural selection and tending measures) and exogenous - stress factors (air pollution, extreme drought) on the bioelectrical potential have been analyzed. It has been proven by the results that bioelectrical measurements are a highly sensitive indicator of the past growth (vitality) of trees as the consequence of a long lasting influence of endogenous factors and a much worse indicator of the present growth (health condition) as the consequence of transitory and momentary endogenous or exogenous stresses
