Fishing groups, understandably, tend to question the motives of marine park managers when valuable fishing reserves are seemingly locked away. Indeed, to outsiders it may seem yet another case of conservation measures incompatible with industry initiatives. But on the contrary, marine reserves may be the only long-term answer for sustainable fisheries management.
